Montgomery County police drones were busy Thursday, helping safely locate a young child and arrest six people.
Police officers responded to the area of Pennydog Court in Silver Spring at about 4:35 p.m. following the report of a missing five-year-old.
Raven, the department’s Drone as a First Responder, located the child and relayed the location to nearby officers, who quickly reunited the child and parents.
Raven also was dispatched at about 1:10 p.m. to the 900 block of Thayer Avenue in Silver Spring for a theft in progress. The drone arrived before the officers and was able to spot two suspects leaving the store. The officers went to that location and apprehended both suspects.
Around 8 p.m., a theft was reported at the Nike Store in the 7100 block of Arlington Road, Bethesda. Once again, a drone was deployed and located the suspects from overhead and provided officers with their location. Four suspects were apprehended, according to police.
