Fire Displaces 4 in Montgomery Village; Man Arrested

A man is in custody after allegedly setting a fire that displaced four residents at a Montgomery Village apartment complex, according to Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service (MCFRS) spokesperson Pete Piringer.

Firefighters responded to reports of a fire around 1:30 p.m. on Friday, April 4, in the 18300 block of Feather Tree Way.

Piringer said the fire was intentionally set using an ignitable liquid and broke out in the third-floor hallway of the three-story apartment building.

The building’s sprinkler system helped contain the fire before it was fully extinguished by crews.

Firefighters also assisted several residents in evacuating the building.

No injuries were reported.

Damage is estimated at $20,000, Piringer said on X.

The suspect’s identity has not been released.

He remains in police custody.
