The National Weather Service issued a Wind Advisory through 8 p.m. Tuesday, with west winds of 20 to 25 mph and gusts up to 50 mph expected.
The strong winds could blow around unsecured objects, snap tree limbs, and cause scattered power outages. Driving may be difficult, especially for high-profile vehicles.
If power outages darken traffic signals, officials remind drivers to treat those intersections as four-way stops.
Wind Advisories (brown-colored areas) are in effect for much of the area today from 10 AM to 8 PM EDT for peak wind gusts between 45 and 50 mph. Gale Warnings (pink colored areas) are in effect for all of the waterways. #DCwx #MDwx #VAwx #WVwx pic.twitter.com/jIw3ZgVlLj
