During his weekly virtual media briefing on Wednesday, Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich expressed his optimism behind the progress being made during the pandemic now that the COVID-19 vaccine is starting to rollout. Elrich added that there’s an anticipation of more help from the federal level this year.

Governor Larry Hogan recently acknowledged Montgomery County as one of five counties in the state that has done the most in administering vaccine doses at a good pace.
Elrich also mentioned how the county continues to make the vaccine available to more people as doses become available – while noting that the supply of vaccines is allocated from the state. Meanwhile, the state’s supply of vaccines is given by the federal government.
“We are working really hard to make sure we put the supply in place and make the doses available to people, and as the supply increases, we are going to continue to ramp up our programs. Hopefully, there will be ramping up of vaccine production…so as we begin to move through the winter, the supply and variety of products should increase, and we should be able to move faster than we’ve been able to move so far,” said Elrich.
