Montgomery County COVID-19 Statistics
The Maryland Department of Health reported 549 new COVID-19 cases in Montgomery County Friday morning which is the third-highest increase in cases. The county’s cumulative case count is 49,806, which will likely surpass 50,000 Saturday.
Montgomery County recorded seven new coronavirus-related fatalities Friday, bringing the death toll to 1,126.
The county has a rate of 8.06% for positive COVID-19 tests, which is a decrease of 0.13 from Thursday’s rate of 8.19%. The county’s positivity rate is lower than in 19 of Maryland’s 24 jurisdictions.
Montgomery County leads the state in total COVID-19 related fatalities. Prince George’s County has the second-highest number with 1,102 fatalities and the most coronavirus cases in the state with 58,316 cases.
Allegany County in the western region of the state has the most cases per capita at 81 cases per 1,000 residents. Somerset County has the second-highest per capita cases with 75.5 cases per 1,000 residents.

The state recorded 3,732 new infections Friday which is the second-largest single-day increase. The state’s cumulative case count is 299,606 and will likely surpass 300 thousand Saturday.
COVID-19 related hospitalizations set a new record Friday with 1,885 patients hospitalized across the state with the virus.
Friday the state recorded 43 newly reported deaths bringing the death toll is 6,047.
The state reported a rate of 9.16% for positive COVID-19 tests Friday. This is a decrease of 0.15 from Thursday’s rate of 9.31%.
