Montgomery County COVID-19 Statistics
Since Friday, Jan. 15, the Maryland Department of Health has reported 1,552 new cases of COVID-19 in Montgomery County—540 Saturday, 409 Sunday, 284 Monday, and 310 Tuesday. The county’s cumulative case count is 54,836.
Montgomery County recorded 23 new coronavirus-related fatalities since Friday, Jan. 15—four Saturday, five Sunday, eight Monday, and six Tuesday—bringing the death toll to 1,196.
The county has a rolling seven-day average of 6.45% for positive COVID-19 tests, which is a decrease of 0.6 from Monday’s average rate of 7.05%. The county’s positivity rate is lower than in 21 of Maryland’s 24 jurisdictions.
Montgomery County leads the state in total COVID-19 related fatalities with 1,196, but not in total cases. Prince George’s County has 1,152 fatalities and the most coronavirus cases in the state with 63,592 cases.
Allegany County in the western region of the state has the most cases per capita at 84.6 cases per 1,000 residents. Somerset County, located in Maryland’s Easter Shore, has the second-highest per capita cases with 82.3 cases per 1,000 residents.
Maryland COVID-19 Statistics
Since Friday, Jan. 15, the state recorded 9,447 new infections—3,292 Saturday, 2,414 Sunday, 1,769 Monday, and 1,972 Tuesday. The state’s cumulative case count is 330,186.
COVID-19 related hospitalizations remain high. On Tuesday, the state reported 1,875 patients were hospitalized across the state with the virus.
Maryland recorded 154 new coronavirus-related fatalities since Friday, Jan. 15—47 Saturday, 25 Sunday, 29 Monday, and 53 Tuesday—bringing the death toll to 6,476.
The state reported a rolling seven-day average of 7.8% for positive COVID-19 tests Tuesday. This is a decrease of 0.42 from Monday’s rate of 8.22%.
