Montgomery County COVID-19 Statistics for Feb. 12
The Maryland Department of Health reported 170 new COVID-19 cases in Montgomery County Friday morning. This brings the cumulative cases to more than 61,330.
Montgomery County recorded five new coronavirus-related fatalities Friday, bringing the death toll to 1,324.
The county reports 185 patients were hospitalized with COVID-19 as of Feb. 10. This is the fewest patients since Nov. 16, 2020, when 172 county residents were hospitalized for COVID-19.
The county has a rate of 4.15% for positive COVID-19 tests, which is a decrease of 0.24 from Thursday’s rate of 4.39%. This is the third straight day the rate is below 5%. The county’s positivity rate has been below 6% for more than two weeks and is lower than in 17 of Maryland’s 24 jurisdictions.
At more than 1,300 deaths, Montgomery County leads the state in total COVID-19 related fatalities. Prince George’s County has the second-highest number with 1,255 fatalities and the most coronavirus cases in the state with 70,646 cases.
Somerset County, part of Maryland’s Eastern Shore, has the highest cases per capita with 91.3 cases per 1,000 residents. Allegany County in the western region of the state has the second-highest rate at 90.1 cases per 1,000 residents.

The state recorded 1,112 new infections Friday bringing the state’s cumulative case count to 368,977.
There are 1,225 patients hospitalized across the state with the virus. This is the fewest residents hospitalized in more than two months.
Friday the state recorded 36 newly reported deaths. The state’s death toll now stands at 7,324.
The state reported a rate of 4.87% for positive COVID-19 tests Friday. This is a decrease of 0.21 from Thursday’s rate of 5.08% and the first time since Nov. 7 the rate fell below 5%.
