Two individuals were rescued on separate occasions near the Billy Goat Trail on Sunday. Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service (MCFRS) responded to the scenes after receiving reports that the individuals were trapped or injured, according to department spokesman Pete Piringer.
The first rescue occurred on Billy Goat Trail A, at the Great Falls region of the Potomac River. An adult male fell from the rocks of the trail into the water, leading to injury. The individual was extracted from the water by MCFRS swift rescue boats and was transported to the hospital.
The second rescue also occurred on Billy Goat Trail A, near Sherwin Island. An adult was injured after a fall near the shoreline.
Both individuals had non life-threatening injuries.
