Rockville resident Cristian Vasquez, age 15, was arrested and charged with first-degree rape, first-degree assault and home invasion, according to the Montgomery County Department of Police. Vasquez is being charged as an adult for the crimes.
On April 29, Vasquez entered the victim’s home through an unlocked door and sexually assaulted her when she returned to her home on First Street in Rockville around 11 p.m. The victim put away groceries that she had just purchased, then walked upstairs and entered the bathroom, unaware that Vasquez was in the home. Vasquez grabbed her from behind and put his arm around her neck, wearing a mask that covered his entire face.
Vasquez then pulled the victim into a bedroom and displayed a knife. He put a covering over the victim’s head so she could not see and proceeded to sexually assault her. When the victim heard Vasquez leave the home, she fled to her vehicle and called 9-1-1.
During the investigation, detectives obtained video surveillance that captured Vasquez running from the area of the victim’s home and entering the rear door of his residence immediately after the incident occurred. The Crime Scene Unit recovered latent prints from the victim’s home, which were analyzed by personnel from the Latent Print Unit and determined to belong to Vasquez.
On April 30, Vasquez was arrested on the strength of a warrant and made admissions of guilt during a police interview. He was then transported to the Central Processing Unit and is being held without bond.
In accordance with the department’s policy, a photograph of Vasquez will not be released.
