Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) detectives from the Major Crimes division are investigating an armed carjacking in White Oak.
On June 13, around 7 p.m., the suspect fled on foot from the 10100 block of New Hampshire Ave. after stealing from a business located there, MCPD said.
According to a police press release, “An employee, who observed the theft, left the store and drove around in his vehicle in an attempt to locate the suspect. The employee located the suspect at a bus stop in the 11000 block of New Hampshire Avenue and exited his car while the vehicle was still running. The suspect and victim became involved in an altercation. During the altercation, the suspect threatened the victim with a weapon and stole the victim’s vehicle.”
Police said the victim had minor injuries from the altercation and was treated at the scene.
Police have released surveillance video of the suspect and are asking for help from the public to identify the person involved.
