Update (June 24, 10:25 a.m.) Detectives with the Montgomery County Police Department are investigating the homicide of 18-year-old Kennedy Merrit-Millit of Rockville. Investigators say they do not believe this is a random incident.
On Tuesday, officers responded to the report of a shooting in the Fairland area shortly after 11:00 p.m. Merrit-Millit was found lying on the ground at the intersection of Greencastle Road and Turbridge Drive, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Officers tried lifesaving measures on Merrit-Millit until Fire and Rescue personnel arrived. Merrit-Millit was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries, according to an MCPD press release.
Authorities say this remains an active and ongoing homicide investigation.

Original Post (June 23, 11:00 a.m.) A homicide investigation is underway after a man was found dead on Greencastle Road near Turbrudge Drive in the Fairland area on Tuesday night, according to Montgomery County Police.
Officers responded to a dispatch call for a possible shooting shortly after 11:00 p.m.
Authorities have not yet released any further information regarding what led to the man’s death. This story is developing.
