A public service announcement contest, “Take Your Shot”, was launched to encourage students to educate fellow young people about the COVID-19 vaccine.
Now the top 16 submissions from the contest compete online to see who is the fan favorite.
The video that gets the most likes on YouTube will be declared the winner. And its creator will receive a $100 gift card. Voting is open until Aug. 16.
More than 300 entries were submitted by middle and high school students.
Students were asked to explore one of three themes:
- Why should everyone get the COVID-19 vaccine?
- What makes you want to get vaccinated?
- When people, like us, get vaccinated, we can….
“This contest demonstrated the pent-up need for young people to express their feelings about the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Dr. Raymond Crowel, director of the County’s Department of Health and Human Services. “The pandemic has dominated their lives for the past year, and these videos show the joy and exuberance they feel now that they have the freedom that comes with vaccination.”
The videos in the contest can be found on the county’s YouTube page
