It’s Tuesday, Nov. 16 and here are five things to know in Montgomery County.
1. Council in Session: Montgomery County Council meets virtually at 9 a.m. The meeting starts with a proclamation recognizing World Pancreatic Cancer Day by Councilmember Jawando. At 1:30 the Council will hold a Public Hearing on Redistricting, Expedited Bill 41-21, Elections – Council Districts – Boundaries, Special appropriation to the FY22 Operating Budget, Montgomery County Government, Office of the County Executive – Online Sales and Telework Grant Program, $869,733 (Source of funds: State grant) and an amendment to FY22 Resolution 19-872, Section G, FY22 Designation of Entities for Non-competitive Award Status– Conference and Visitor’s Bureau.
The meeting will be televised on County Cable Montgomery Channels Comcast HD 996 and SD6, RCN HD 1056 and SD 6, and Verizon 30. Additionally, it will be live-streamed on the council’s Facebook and YouTube channels.
2. Craft and Sips: Join Montgomery Parks for a cozy evening indoors to celebrate the upcoming holiday season with a fun and intimate Winter Craft and Sip. Reservations can be made on ActiveMontgomery. The event is at Meadowbrook Local Park Activity Building from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
3. UpCounty Hub Drive-thru Distribution: Food distribution from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Germantown Elementary School, 19110 Liberty Mill Rd. Germantown, MD 20874. Please remain in your car, have your mask on and trunk open. The maximum is 2 boxes/bags per car.
4. Introduction to Entrepreneurship – Virtual: Becoming a successful entrepreneur requires hard work and thorough planning. Learn how-to from the Maryland Women’s Business Center. Registration is required. The Zoom link will be emailed to registered participants one day before the event. 5. Montgomery County Commission on Veterans Affairs: In honor of Veterans Day, veterans who serve on the Commission will share their experience in the military and as a veteran. Additionally, the Commission will honor women veterans and acknowledge prisoners of war and service members missing in action. Join Zoom Meeting.
