Today is Friday, Jan. 14 and here are five things to know in Montgomery County.
1. Rapid Covid-19 Test Kits: The county is distributing free test kits at 19 library branches. The distribution schedule may be found on the county’s COVID-19 Rapid Test Kits web page. Check the page before you go to see if they have run out of test kits. Residents must bring a proof of residency and may get two kits per person per visit.
2. MLK Week of Service: In celebration of the life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., the Volunteer Center is coordinating numerous ways individuals may give back to the community. It begins on Saturday and extends through Jan. 22.
3. Health Insurance: The deadline to enroll for a health plan through Maryland Health Connection is Saturday, Jan. 15.

4. Transportation: The Rockville and Shady Grove Metro stations will reopen Sunday after more than four months for repairs to the canopies above both platforms. Also, the county Ride On bus service will be reduced starting Sunday due to a growing number of employees sick from, or exposed to, COVID-19. Details are available on the county website.
5. Virtual Comic Convention: The public libraries are hosting their sixth comic convention Saturday with virtual events only.
