After almost 37 years on the job, popular FOX5 meteorologist Sue Palka is retiring. Her final show is Wednesday on the 10 O’Clock News.
Palka told MyMCM, “I feel like Dorothy leaving Oz. It’s been overwhelming and wonderful and wild and full of technicolor. I will miss my colleagues and the viewers who kept me on air for nearly 37 years. But it feels like the right time to go over the rainbow while I’m healthy and able to enjoy the fruits of my career.
The send-off the last few weeks full of video highlights and the unbelievable outpouring of support and love from my co-workers and viewers have humbled me. I’m forever grateful for the privilege of being welcomed into so many homes through the decades. I’m delighted when people tell me they grew up watching me.
Thank you especially to my many friends and neighbors in Montgomery County where I live. I’m looking forward to seeing you out and about.”
Palka, 66, is a six-time Emmy winner. She was born in Erie, Pa but has lived in Montgomery County for over 30 years. After decades in Northwest Washington DC, FOX5 moved their studios to Bethesda.
