Amir Iben-Faruq Paul, 35, of Silver Spring, was charged with making a false threat of mass violence in connection with an incident at an apartment complex that was partially evacuated June 23 after residents called about a possible bomb in a unit on the eighth floor.
Thursday morning, part of a 17-story apartment complex on Georgia Avenue in Silver Spring was evacuated after the Montgomery County call center received information that a resident claimed there was a bomb in his unit.
Several hours later, the building was declared safe and residents were escorted back into their units. “The items in the unit are safe and of no concern,” said Montgomery C0unty Fire and Rescue Chief Scott Goldstein Thursday.
Paul is charged with false alarm fire, intentional false alarm, disorderly conduct, threat of mass violence, arson/threat, false statement destructive device and phony destructive device.
His preliminary hearing is set for July 22 at Montgomery District Court in Rockville. He is being held without bond.
