On Tuesday, before the 3:00 p.m. deadline, County Executive candidate David Blair officially requested a petition for a full recount of the 140,000 ballots, according to the Montgomery County Board of Elections (BOE).
Blair lost to incumbent Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich by only 35 votes in the July 19 primary, according to the results certified Saturday by the Board of Elections. During the 2018 election, Elrich beat Blair by 77 votes and a partial recount that included some polling places was requested.
So what’s next? The BOE will start recounting votes Friday at 9:30 a.m. Dr. Gilberto Zelaya of the Montgomery County Board of Elections told MyMCM that the recount will take place at the Germantown Community Recreation Center Friday through Sunday from 9:30 a.m. until 7 p.m. There is a chance they will still be recounting on Monday according to Zelaya.
