Maryland Task Force 1 (MD-TF1) arrived in Puerto Rico Tuesday to assist with recovery efforts following the destructive path of Hurricane Fiona last weekend.
The search and rescue task force is made up of 35 first responders, including 15 individuals from Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service.
Local officials provided an update on the efforts of MD-TF1 at a press briefing on Wednesday.
Depending on recovery needs, officials expect the rescue team to remain in Puerto Rico 10 to 14 days.
