Good Counsel, the top ranked team in the region, earned their fourth straight victory with a 24-7 win at home against Gonzaga in MCM’s Game of the Week.
On a chilly night in Olney, Good Counsel took control of the WCAC match-up midway through the first half. The Falcons scored on their first two possessions to take a 10-0 lead early in the second quarter, including a 25-yard touchdown run by junior running back Dilin Jones.
Good Counsel junior quarterback Frankie Weaver threw two second half touchdown passes. His perfect throw on the run to junior wide receiver Elijah Moore in the final seconds of the third quarter gave the Falcons a comfortable 17-0 lead..

Gonzaga struggled to move the ball on offense throughout the game. Quarterback Aidan Conrath was under constant pressure all night. The Eagles managed to avoid a shutout, however, thanks to a last-second touchdown pass from Conrath to running back Cody Hobson.
Good Counsel (6-1) will look to keep its winning streak alive next Friday at Bishop McNamara (2-5).
Gonzaga (4-4) will also take on Bishop McNamara for its next game on Oct. 29 after a bye week.
