When 8th grade students were headed to lunch on Feb. 9 at Kingsview Middle School, staff overhead some derogatory comments in the hallway, including “bring back segregation, bring back slavery!” according to an email from the school’s principal, Dylan Harrison.
The hate-bias comments were accompanied by the waving of an American flag.
“Kingsview Middle School is rooted in a tradition that celebrates our diversity and demonstrates academic excellence. This type of behavior is totally unacceptable and will not be tolerated,” Harrison wrote.
The school is working with the MCPS Office of School Support and Well-Being (OSSWB) to investigate this matter.
