A new bookstore is expected to open in downtown Takoma Park this spring.
People’s Book is expected to have events, be a gathering space for book clubs and offer more than 12,000 books.
The store is woman-owned by a Takoma Park resident who is a mother of two young children and a former educator.
“If you knew me in my teaching days, you’d know that I’ve always had a passion for finding the right book, for the right kid, at the right time. For years I’ve dreamed of opening my own bookstore and I’m excited to create and nurture a welcoming space for neighbors to come together to learn and grow,” said the owner, who is only identified as Megan, on the website.
