Any day now, every household in Montgomery County will receive an invitation to participate in the census. As of March 12, the Census Bureau began mailing invitations to participate in the census.
The invitation includes instructions to fill out the form through the internet, by mail or by phone.
Every 10 years, the Census Bureau must complete a count of everyone living in the country.
The census is important because the funding for many federal and state programs is based on census data. Also, district lines for Congress, the General Assembly, and the County Council are based in part on the census. There are 11 questions asked in the census and it is completely confidential.
