Applications opened for the Purple Line Light Rail Phase-II grant program to help local businesses facing negative impacts due to the construction of the new rail line.
Montgomery County partnered with the Maryland Department of Commerce to implement the program. Phase I grants were rolled out between December 2021 and January 2022.
To apply for a grant, businesses must have a location adjacent to the Purple Line construction and they must have endured revenue losses. Additional requirements include being independently owned and operated and staffing 20 or fewer employees, among others. Businesses that received funding from Phase I or that were established after Aug. 1, 2017, are not eligible for the grant.
The application closes on May 31 and can be found on the Montgomery County Business Center website. Applicants should be registered in the county’s Central Vendor Registration System and have a government-issued I.D., a completed business W-9 form and a screenshot from Maryland Business Express with proof of good standing.
