Downtown Silver Spring’s first Chalk Art Fest turned out to be a popular and colorful event. Artists and doodlers chalked drawings of a bubble gum machine, several political messages, underwater sea creatures and other animals and much more.
The area of Ellsworth Drive that is closed to traffic was the scene of much foot traffic while some participated and others observed and a DJ kept the music going.
Chalk Riot, which sponsored the event, is an all-female art group that creates murals and designs throughout the D.C. area.
