Help Stamp Out Hunger on Saturday, May 13

The National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC) annual Stamp Out Hunger food drive takes place on Saturday, May 13. One in 10 Americans experience hunger every day.

The drive, in its 31st year, has delivered more than 1.82 billion pounds of food. It is the largest single day food drive in the country.  Postal carriers collect non-perishable food donations left by mailboxes and in post offices and deliver them to local community food banks, pantries and shelters.

NALC President Brian Renfroe talks about the food drive:

Manna Food Center’s Jamal was featured in the NALC video in 2013.

The Mid-County United Ministries (MUM) seeks volunteers to collect, sort, and transport Stamp Out Hunger food donations. Drivers will collect the food from seven post offices and bring the food to the Kensington Town Hall where it will be sorted and then transported to MUM storage units by volunteers on Sunday, May 14.
