An adult male was apprehended by Montgomery County Police in connection with an armed robbery and sexual assault that occurred on the Northwest Branch Trail in the 10700 block of Columbia Pike in Silver Spring Tuesday at about 3 p.m.
According to police, an adult male approached an adult female on the trail, displayed a weapon, sexually assaulted her and stole property from her before fleeing the scene.
Officers set a perimeter of the area and apprehended a suspect with the assistance of a Maryland State Police helicopter, the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Unit and Maryland-National Capital Park Police.
