A suspect arrested for theft in Takoma Park escaped from a marked patrol vehicle and fled on foot Saturday and has not been located as of Monday morning.
An officer went to the 7-11 in the 1300 block of University Boulevard after being alerted to a theft in progress. Upon arrival, the suspect was still inside, according to police. They arrested him without incident.
Police handcuffed the suspect and placed him in the patrol car. While the officer then investigated the incident, the suspect escaped the cruiser and fled on foot.
Police obtained an arrest warrant, which they were not successfully able to serve.
