Residents can celebrate Pride month throughout June in Montgomery County.
To mark the start of the month on Thursday, county leaders raised a Pride flag in Rockville for the fifth year in a row. This Pride month, the county debuted a Ride On bus wrapped with the flag and displaying the slogan #RideWithPride.
Throughout the rest of the month, residents can join the following events:
Saturday, June 3
Drag Story Hour: From 10-11 a.m., drag performer D’Manda Martini will read stories virtually and also lead a craft activity. Participants must register here.
Week of June 4-June 10
Pride in the Park — An LGBTQ Comedy Show: From 6-8:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 8 at Fairview Road Urban Park, Improbable Comedy will present “an evening of laughs featuring local queer comics.” The event is not recommended for those under 17 years old and viewer discretion is advised, per Montgomery Parks. Attendees are encouraged to bring chairs or picnic blankets.
Birding for All: At Locust Grove Nature Center from 4:30-6 p.m. on Saturday, June 10, a park naturalist will lead adult birders of all levels, and the program will especially provide a safe and welcoming environment for members of the LGBTQIA+, Black, Indigenous, and people of color (BIPOC) and accessibility communities. Week of June 11-June 17
Takoma Park Pride Day: On Sunday, June 11 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. the Takoma Park community will celebrate Pride at the Streetery on Laurel Avenue, which starts at 6929 Laurel Ave. The theme this year is Protect Trans Rights.
Teen Pride Day: From 4:30-5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 14, a teen panel from Einstein High School and MoCo Pride Center will explore topics related to the LGBTQ community at Kensington Park Library. It is open to tweens and teens ages 12-18.
Youth Pride Writing Deadline: Friday, June 16 is the deadline for Montgomery County Public Schools high school students to submit an essay or poem about the importance of LGBTQ+ representation. Students can submit an entry here.
Pride Family Day: From 11 a.m.-2 p.m. on Saturday, June 17, residents can join Pride Family Day at Glen Echo Park.
Pride Night at Big Train: On Saturday, June 17, the Bethesda Big Train Collegiate Baseball team will have Pride Night at 7 p.m. Residents can buy tickets here.
Week of June 18-June 24
Pride Awareness Hike: On Sunday, June 18 from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. at Fairland Recreational Park, a Pride Awareness Hike for all ages will be held, designed for members and allies of the LGBTQ+ community. Register here.
Rockville Pride: The City of Rockville will host Rockville Pride Day for all ages in Rockville Town Square from 1-4 p.m. on Saturday, June 24.
Last Week of June
Pride in the Plaza: On Sunday, June 25, the county will host Pride in the Plaza all day long from 12-8 p.m. at Veterans Plaza in downtown Silver Spring.
