Welcome to our Weekend Roundup of events in Montgomery County. Here are nine things to do this weekend, July 7-9.
Friday, July 7
Kids Concert: Every Friday at 11:30 a.m. visit the Norfolk Avenue Streetery in Downtown Bethesda for an outdoor kid’s concert. This week the duo King Bullfrog performs. Free. Learn more here.
Calleva Pizza Night at the Farm: Hope you’re hungry as Calleva hosts its weekly Pizza Night at the Farm from 5 to 8 p.m. Have delicious pizza, local beers and wines, farm-fresh salads, ice cream, and an opportunity to wander the farm. Make sure to make your reservation beforehand to ensure your family gets to dine in the great outdoors.
Parks PlayHouse Summer Concert Series: Outdoor concert with Juliet Lloyd from 6 to 8 p.m. Enjoy a night of live music by Washington, DC-based singer/songwriter Juliet Lloyd. The event is for all ages, free to the public, and located at 17600 Buehler Road in Olney (Southeast Olney Local Park). Find more information here.
Saturday, July 8
Nate the Great Kids Theater: Based on the Nate the Great books, this light-hearted musical plays currently at Bethesda’s Imagination Stage. Best for kids ages 5-11. Two performances on Saturday, July 8 at 1 and 4 p.m. Learn more at the Imagination Stage website.
Bloom at Good Hope Concert Series: Amadou Kouyate uses traditional West African instruments and incorporates blues and jazz. Kouyate performs Saturday, July 8 at 5 p.m. The concert is free and takes place at the Good Hope Recreation Center in White Oak. RSVP here. Learn about Kouyate below:
Tour Oakley Cabin Museum and Park: From noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday, July 8, tour the Oakley Cabin located at 3610 Brookeville Road in Olney. Learn the history of the African American community who lived and worked on the site from emancipation into the 20th century. Appropriate for all ages. Free. Sunday, July 9
Into the Woods Musical: Rockville Little Theatre presents the musical Into the Woods based on the book by James Lapine. Performances from now through July 16. Tickets are $26; $23 for seniors and students. Performance on Sunday, July 9 at 2 p.m. takes place at the F. Scott Fitzgerald Theatre, 603 Edmonston Drive in Rockville. Buy tickets here.
The Fisherman and His Wife: Adventure Theatre presents The Fisherman and His Wife from now through Aug. 6. The play, based on the story by The Brothers Grimm, runs approximately 60 minutes. Sunday two performances scheduled from 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. at the main theatre in Glen Echo Park, 7300 MacArthur Boulevard. Tickets sell for $20.50; Buy tickets here.
Arts & Crafts Summer Fair: Celebrate summer at Veterans Plaza in Silver Spring Sunday, July 9 from 1 to 7 p.m. Crafts, food, and live music highlight this fair. Free admission.
