Maryland Nets $10M in Cannabis Sales over First Weekend

Over the Fourth of July weekend, many Marylanders watched fireworks to celebrate our nation’s independence. But fireworks weren’t the only things lighting up.

In a report by the Maryland Cannabis Administration, medical and recreational cannabis sales totaled $10.4 million dollars from Friday, June 30, to Sunday, July 2.

More than $4.5 million of these sales happened on Saturday, July 1, the first day recreational cannabis became legal in the state. According to the Maryland Cannabis Administration, almost 80% of the revenue came from recreational sales.

Any Maryland resident 21 years and older with a valid government ID can purchase and possess cannabis products from registered dispensaries in Maryland.
