Over the Fourth of July weekend, many Marylanders watched fireworks to celebrate our nation’s independence. But fireworks weren’t the only things lighting up.
In a report by the Maryland Cannabis Administration, medical and recreational cannabis sales totaled $10.4 million dollars from Friday, June 30, to Sunday, July 2.
More than $4.5 million of these sales happened on Saturday, July 1, the first day recreational cannabis became legal in the state. According to the Maryland Cannabis Administration, almost 80% of the revenue came from recreational sales.
Any Maryland resident 21 years and older with a valid government ID can purchase and possess cannabis products from registered dispensaries in Maryland.
