Among numerous other charges, Taylor Taranto has been arrested by federal authorities for his participation in events at the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021.
According to the Washington Post, during his recent activities in the DMV he livestreamed on social media on June 18 from Takoma Park’s Piney Branch Elementary School where he touted his proximity to the home of Jamie Raskin, a key figure in the investigation into the events of January 6.
According to research by the police department, a group named Make America Safe Again rented the Piney Branch school cafeteria through the Montgomery County Office of Community Use of Public Facilities (CUPF) to show a film about January 6. Taranto attended this screening.
In order to assure citizens no safety concerns remain; the Takoma Park Police issued a statement on Thursday afternoon. According to the press release, “There is no active threat against any facility in the City or the community.”
Takoma Park Police will continue close contact with federal and local law enforcement to determine if a crime occurred and to file charges if appropriate.
