Two dozen dogs at the Montgomery County Animal Services and Adoption Center (MCASAC) still need a forever home. And due to a critical population at the shelter, fee waived adoptions remain available.
New dogs arrive at the shelter every day including more than 31 this week.
MCASAC Community Relations Manager Maria Anselmo says the large dog overflow that began earlier this month is still not over. “We are asking you to adopt, sign up to foster, keep spreading the word. These dogs still need your help.”
The adoption process can begin online by completing an adoption questionnaire and emailing any required documents.
If you are interested in temporarily fostering a large dog, you can sign up here. Fostering is free and supplies to care for the dogs are provided.
Pet food can be donated at the shelter. MCASAC encourages people struggling to keep their pet to view the resources available on their website or to contact the shelter for help.
You can visit the center at 7315 Muncaster Mill Road in Derwood from noon – 7 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. On weekends shelter hours run from noon to 5 p.m.
