Aspiring Broadcasters Learn at Sports Play by Play Camp

Years ago, kids who wanted to get into sports broadcasting had limited options available until they went to college. Things have changed in the last few years.

The Play By Play Sports Broadcasting Camps organization runs camps in cities all over the country including Philadelphia, Boston, Chicago and Los Angeles.

For the second year in a row, MCM played host to the Washington, DC edition of the camp. Kids ages 10-18 get the opportunity to meet and learn the ins and outs of broadcasting from play by play announcers, sportscasters, professional athletes and camp director Neil Hartman.

Sportscasters Joe Beninati, and Montgomery County natives Chick Hernandez and Bram Weinstein were among the guest speakers at the camp this week.

Campers did a field trip to the Nats game against the Colorado Rockies Wednesday afternoon.
