Police said three teenagers have been charged for an armed carjacking and armed robbery that occurred in June in downtown Silver Spring.
Two teens — ages 16 and 17 — were charged as adults, per a release from the Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD).
The youngest teen, a 13-year-old, was charged and referred to the Department of Juvenile Services.
The 17-year-old is being held without bond. The 16-year-old was arrested on strength of warrant and is held in Washington, D.C on unrelated charges, according to police.
According to police, a man — the victim — was driving on Wayne Avenue on June 21 and saw a Jeep Grand Cherokee following him. The Jeep drove away when the victim parked at his home and then it came back and blocked the victim’s car. Police stated that as the victim was exiting the car, “five to six unknown Black male suspects, wearing dark clothing and masks” exited the Jeep. They pointed a gun at the victim and demanded his property as well as his cellphone password. The victim complied.
Police said one suspect punched the victim in the face and followed him as he ran.
Then, the suspects left in the man’s Infiniti FX35 and in the Jeep.
Detectives identified the three juveniles as suspects through investigation, according to police.
