Montgomery County will commemorate International Overdose Awareness Day on Thursday, Aug. 31 with a resource fair and vigil.
The 8th annual event also kicks off Montgomery Goes Purple’s recognition of National Recovery Month, an observance of mental health and addiction recovery.
A schedule of events is below:
- 5 p.m. – Resource Fair
- 6:30 p.m. – Montgomery Goes Purple Kick Off Event for Recovery
- 7:30 p.m. – International Overdose Awareness Day Candlelight Ceremony and Vigil
A photo display will recognize people lost to overdoses. Community members can submit photos and information about their loved ones for the display here. All photos should be submitted by Tuesday, Aug. 15.
The events will take place at Memorial Plaza in Rockville. Food trucks will also be present.
