Uniqlo, a Japanese casual wear designer, manufacturer and retailer, opens Friday in Downtown Silver Spring at 914 Ellsworth Drive.
The opening weekend features several special events and giveaways, including a free tote bag and calligraphy demonstrations. Some events are open only to those who download the store’s app.
Tennis great Roger Federer is a global brand ambassador of Uniqlo.
The store opened its first unisex casual wear store in Japan in 1984 under the name Unique Clothing Warehouse. The name was shortened to Uniqlo.
The new store is located by Nike Unite, which opened in February.
