A ‘Total Loss’: Massive Dickerson House Fire Displaces Family

A massive house fire displaced a family of three adults and three kids early Monday morning in Dickerson, according to Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) Chief Public Information Officer Pete Piringer.

About 75 MCFRS firefighters responded to a call and an alarm notification at around 2:30 a.m. to a house fire on the 21700 block of Peachtree Road. Piringer said the crews arrived at a well-advanced fire in the large two-story single-family home. The family got out of the house uninjured, according to Piringer’s X post.

The fire spread to the vehicles in the driveway and the house partially collapsed while the firefighters were battling the fire, according to Piringer’s video on X.

Piringer said the house was in a non-hydrant area. The Water Supply Task Force brought tankers to shuttle in thousands of gallons of water. At 5:41 a.m., Piringer posted a video on X saying they had already used about 60,000 or 70,000 gallons of water and were expected to be there for more hours to work on some hotspots.

The house fire caused Peachtree Road’s closure between Barnesville Road and Sellman Road.

The cause of the fire is under investigation and Piringer said investigators will be on the scene throughout the day. Piringer mentioned in the video that the call indicated the fire started in the rear of the house.

The house and several vehicles were a total loss, according to Piringer’s X post.
