The North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) is scheduled to conduct a routine defense exercise on Tuesday in the National Capital Region. The exercise, titled Falcon Virgo, takes place from midnight until 2:30 a.m., according to a news release.
NORAD conducts exercises routinely to train for airspace violations, aircraft hijackings, and responses to unknown aircraft.
Tuesday’s exercise supports the mission to conduct aerospace warning and control for North America. The exercise will include Air Force F-16 fighter jets, Coast Guard MH-65D Dolphin helicopter, Navy King Air Aircraft, and Civil Air Patrol Cessna 182T general aviation aircraft.
