Albert Einstein Student Wins Congressional Art Competition

An Albert Einstein High School student took top honors in Maryland’s Eighth District 2022 Congressional Art Competition.

Isabel Acuna Marin’s art piece titled “Tia Mona” will hang in the U.S. Capitol Building for one year, along with the winning artwork from every congressional district in the nation. Her winning piece is displayed here.

“Congratulations to Isabel Acuna Marin for creating a breathtaking piece and winning this year’s Eighth District Congressional Art Competition,” said U.S. Rep. Raskin of Maryland’s 8th Congressional District.

Raskin also praised the 25 second place honorees and thanked everyone who participated. He called all the submissions “highly impressive.”

VisArts of Rockville provided an online submission portal so that students could submit work and it could be judged during the pandemic. The guest judges were Cathy Abramson, Ronald Beverly, Caroline Lewis, Ruth Lozner and Jeffrey MacMillan, “all of whom generously shared their time and dedication to make this competition a success,” Raskin said.

This is an annual art contest, held each spring. More than 650,000 high school students have participated since the competition began in 1982.

Each spring, the Congressional Institute sponsors a nationwide high school visual art competition to recognize and encourage artistic talent in the nation and in each congressional district. More than 650,000 high school students have participated since the competition’s inception in 1982.
