Since April, Texas (R) Governor Greg Abbott has sent thousands of immigrants to different Democratic-led cities including Washington, D.C. to protest the Biden administration’s immigration policies. Abbott and Arizona (R) Governor Doug Ducey have sent hundreds of buses full of immigrants to New York and Chicago.
Montgomery County Council President Gabe Albornoz told MyMCM that hundreds of the immigrants are coming to the county and that it’s part of a global crisis that requires a regional approach.
According to Washington, D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser, nearly 8,000 immigrants have arrived in the capital city and about 10 buses are coming to Union Station weekly. Bowser declared a public health emergency on Thursday.
