Looking for a way to celebrate National Oyster Day? All Set Restaurant & Bar’s is hosting their inaugural Oyster Eating Contest on Saturday, Aug. 5.
The contest will run from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Silver Spring restaurant and will include an oyster shucking demonstration from Edward Reavis, the restaurant’s owner and head chef.
Competitors will have one minute to eat as many oysters as they can. They may flavor and dress each oyster before the competition starts, but they cannot touch the oysters until the timer begins. The person who eats the most oysters in one minute will be declared the winner. Find more information about the rules of the competition here.
In the event of a tie, each contestant will be given an additional two dozen oysters and the competitor that swallows them the fastest will be the champion.
The winner of the competition will be awarded one dozen oysters daily for one calendar year, All Set Restaurant & Bar merchandise and supreme bragging rights.
Contestants must sign an event waiver and pay a $25 registration fee in order to participate. All waivers and fees must be signed and paid by Wednesday, Aug. 2. More information about how to submit waivers and fees can be found here.
