Prince George’s County Executive Angela Alsobrooks has been declared the winner in the Democratic primary for U.S. Senate, according to the Associated Press.
AP called the race less than two hours after polls had closed. She defeated U.S. Rep. David Trone (D-6) and will face former Gov. Larry Hogan in November in the race to fill retiring U.S. Sen. Ben Cardin’s seat.
Alsobrooks had the backing of much of the Democratic elite in Maryland, including Gov. Wes Moore and U.S. Rep. Jamie Raskin.
