Annual Bike to Work Day Registration Opens

Online registration is now available for the annual regional Bike to Work Day. The event highlights cycling as an enjoyable, healthy, and eco-friendly way to commute.

The nationwide event will take place on Thursday, May 15.

Throughout the region, dozens of free pit stop events will be available, including 14 in Montgomery County, according to a press release.

The first 18,000 cyclists to register and participate will receive a free T-shirt and entered into a raffle for a chance to win a new bike.

Both commuters and recreational cyclists are encouraged to show up at any of the pit stops, which will offer refreshments, music, and local vendor displays at various times throughout the morning.

Each Montgomery County Department of Transportation (MCDOT)-sponsored pit stop will also feature raffle prizes and a grand prize drawing for a new bike.

In addition to the eight pit stops sponsored by MCDOT, six others in Montgomery County will be operated by various organizations.

Bike to Work Day is co-organized by the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments’ Commuter Connections, a network of transportation organizations that includes MCDOT, and the Washington Area Bicyclist Association.

Additional pit stops will be located throughout the Washington region.

All riders are encouraged to wear a helmet. All participants should visit the Find Your Pit Stop Map to plan a route in advance.
