As hot and humid weather continues, the county is under a Hyperthermia Alert on Saturday.
The alert lasts 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday.
The county is also under a Hyperthermia Alert Friday until 8 p.m.
The county’s Emergency Management and Homeland Security tells residents to expect the heat index to be more than 95 degrees. Residents are advised to take precautions to protect themselves and their pets from heat-related illness.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS), humidity levels will briefly drop on Sunday. Heat index will peak between 100-112 degrees Friday and between 100-105 degrees Saturday, according to NWS.
Safety tips from the county include staying indoors whenever possible. Monitor those at greatest risk of heat-related illness including infants and children up to four years old and those 65 years old and above. Residents are urged to never leave pets, young children or elderly people in a car for any amount of time even with an open window.
