Montgomery County will hold a community forum this month about a restoration center planned for two dozen acres of land along Seven Locks Road in Rockville. The restoration center is part of the county’s plan to replace the current detention center on Seven Locks Road with an expanded criminal justice center.
The forum will take place at 7 p.m. on April 20 in the third-floor hearing room of the Montgomery County Council Office Building in Rockville.
The meeting will include presentations from a wide variety of county officials with participants from health and human services, the police and fire departments, general services, and the county corrections office.
The purpose of the forum is to answer questions residents and city of Rockville officials raised during a previous meeting held on Oct. 6, 2022. Dozens of residents attended the first meeting and raised concerns with the county’s plans.
The restoration center would provide mental health assessments and treatment services by a team of professionals to include nurses, licensed mental health and addiction professionals, peer specialists and resource navigators. It would operate 24 hours a day, 365 days per year.
The county’s plans for the restoration center may be found in the Department of Health and Human Services’ website. The plans for the development of the new criminal justice center may be found on the Department of General Services’ website.
