Welcome to MCM’s Weekend Roundup of entertainment in Montgomery County. Here are 9 things to do this weekend, Aug. 9-11.

Friday, August 9

Fridays at the Farm: Smokey Glen Farm hosts a family barbecue this Friday, Aug. 9, with a twist. The menu includes steamed crab and shrimp, pies, potato salad, and corn on the cob.  Attendees can play games such as horseshoes and mini golf, and enjoy the playground. The event will be hosted from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. with outdoor seating. Tickets cost $79.95 and must be purchased in advance. Smokey Glen Farm is located at 16407 Riffleford Road in Gaithersburg. Photography Exhibit: The Maryland Photography Alliance juried exhibition is on display through Sept. 8 at the Bohrer Park Activity Center. The exhibit includes 47 photographs from the Alliance’s annual statewide competition. Free. The Activity Center is at 506 South Frederick Ave. in Gaithersburg. For more information, click here.

Fishing with the Li’l Ones: Montgomery Parks invites children ages 3 to 6 to go fishing Friday, Aug. 9 from 9 to 10:30 a.m. off the dock at Little Seneca Lake. Poles and bait will be provided. Saturday, August 10

Artisans Market:  The market at Black Rock Center for the Arts takes place this Saturday from noon to 4 p.m. outdoors on the lawn. Explore handcrafted jewelry, candles, wood works, and more at this monthly market. Free and appropriate for all ages. Stay or return for the Music on the Lawn event from 5 to 11 p.m. with country and western band Human Country Jukebox. Black Rock Center for the Arts is at 12901 Town Commons Drive in Germantown. Summer Family Day: Families with children of all ages can drop in to Montgomery Parks’ Summer Family Day at Woodlawn Manor Cultural Park on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Enjoy hands-on activities about life in the 1800s, visit the Woodlawn Museum, and play 19th-century games. Just for the Record – A Vinyl Day: Celebrate National Vinyl Day this Saturday with a festival for music lovers at Brigadier General Charles E. McGee Library from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Activities include music making, creating album covers, DJ workshops, and a children’s dance party and storytime. Vinyl records will be available for purchase. Sunday, August 11

Lake Tour by Kayak: Tour Little Seneca Lake by kayak on Sunday, Aug. 11 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Basic paddling experience is necessary for this Montgomery Parks activity at Black Hill Regional Park in Boyds. Boats, paddles, and Personal Flotations Devices (PFD) will be supplied, but you can bring your own PFD (Type III or V) if you have one. The fee is $30. Sunflower Spectacular at Butler’s Orchard: Butler’s Orchard has offered locally grown produce and family fun for more than 40 years. The annual Sunflower Spectacular features two football fields of sunflowers with props to get the perfect Instagram-worthy photos. The Farm Park includes giant slides, farm animals, and pedal tractors. The event starts Saturday, Aug. 10, and continues through Sunday, Aug. 18 (closed Monday, Aug. 12). Garden Explorers: Meet instructors at the Brookside Gardens Visitor Center and proceed to take a walk through the gardens on Sunday from 11 a.m. to noon. Best for ages 6 to 8. The cost is $7.
