Aviation Students Tour Army Heliport

Ninth grade students in Colonel Zadok Magruder High School’s Aviation Pilot/Unmanned Aircraft program spent Sept. 12 touring Weide Army Heliport at Aberdeen Proving Grounds.

The students saw several rotary wing and support units from the Maryland National Guard. They learned about several types of helicopters and observed different aviation career pathways involved in maintaining and fixing the U.S. Army’s helicopters.

“It is important that our students are introduced to as many career options as possible and that they begin to realize that every industry is multi-faceted with opportunities that utilize their skillsets,” said aviation program supervisor Steve Boden.
