Bacon Takes Fourth in Olympic Backstroke Event

Phoebe Bacon, a graduate of Stone Ridge, took fourth in the 200 meter backstroke Friday in Paris.

Bacon, who had the fastest time in the semifinals of the event, finished .04 seconds off the podium, just behind Canada’s Kylie Masse for a bronze medal.

The event was Bacon’s sole swim of the Olympic Games. She swam the event in the Tokyo Olympics, as well.

Fellow American Regan Smith took silver in the event.
