A judge ordered a Bethesda man be held without bond Wednesday after he was charged with first-degree murder for killing his stepfather, according to the Montgomery County State’s Attorney’s Office.
Sergio Koyangbo, 20, is accused of fatally stabbing his stepfather, David Beasley, 46, on March 6 in the 5600 block of Lambeth Road. According to charging documents, Beasley’s wife, who is Koyangbo’s mother, said she was with Beasley in their bedroom when Koyangbo entered and confronted Beasley. Koyangbo accused Beasley of going through his internet search history. Then, Koyangbo pulled a knife from his pocket and stabbed Beasley in the chest.
A minor child in the home reported they opened a door to the bedroom and saw Koyangbo standing over Beasley with a knife in his hand.
After Koyangbo’s mother called 911 to report the stabbing, officers found Koyangbo in the front yard, and he admitted he stabbed his father. There was a knife on the stairs leading to the front door of the home. Inside, police found Beasley with an apparent stab wound. He was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. According to Montgomery County Police, Koyangbo was arrested without incident.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for April 1.
