The Bethesda Arts & Entertainment District announced the annual Bethesda Painting Awards, inviting local artists from Washington, D.C., Maryland, and Virginia to compete for $14,000 in prizes. Artists must submit their entries by Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2025.
The competition will select up to eight finalists to showcase their work in an exhibition at Gallery B in June 2025. The first-place winner will receive $10,000, with second and third-place winners earning $2,000 and $1,000, respectively. An additional $1,000 will go to a young artist born after Feb. 26, 1995.
Jurors for the competition include Kevin Mitchell, a lecturer at The Catholic University of America; Mary Proenza, an associate professor at Marymount University; and James Williams II, a professor at the Maryland Institute College of Art.
Eligible artists must be at least 18 years old and submit five images, a completed application, and a $25 non-refundable entry fee. For more details, visit Bethesda Painting Awards.
